NURSERY · 3 to under 4 YEARS
More words. New friendships.
A world opening up.

WHAT CHILDREN MIGHT EXPLORE
Learning you can picture.
01
Stories into play
Retell a familiar story using objects, pretend roles and favourite phrases.
02
Patterns in the everyday
Sort objects, compare quantities and notice repeated colours, sounds or movements.
03
Growing independence
Choose materials, care for belongings and contribute to shared routines.
A rhythm to the day.
This is an illustrative sequence, not a fixed timetable. Activities and settling support should adapt to the group and individual needs.
01
Arrive and choose
Begin with an inviting play experience.
02
Talk and explore
Share a story, question or small investigation.
03
Make and move
Create, build and enjoy movement with others.
04
Reflect and reconnect
Talk about a favourite moment before collection.
Small moments
of growing confidence.
Progress might appear in a child returning to an activity, asking a clearer question, trying a new strategy or joining a shared experience. These examples help make development understandable without ranking children.
Our proposed observation and parent discussion process looks for these meaningful steps over time.
Try a little
discovery at home.
Let your child retell a story in their own words. Ask one open question, listen and give them time to answer.
Choosing the right starting point
Age is referenced to 1 June of the admission year. Individual placement, care needs and programme availability are discussed with the team. The programme times above are planning details to confirm before enrolment.

WHAT LEARNING CAN LOOK LIKE
A growing world of words and friendships
Stories that invite participation
Rhymes, picture books, puppets and retelling help children connect language with meaning. They can join with a gesture, a repeated phrase, a drawing or a growing spoken response.
Mathematics in ordinary play
Sorting objects, matching lids, comparing towers and sharing pretend food give quantity and shape a purpose. We value explaining and noticing as much as arriving at an answer.
Learning to be with others
Parallel and shared play offer opportunities to practise taking turns, asking for help and expressing disappointment. Adults model words and help children repair small conflicts without labelling them.
Making and moving
Drawing, clay, dance, balancing and action songs connect creativity with physical development. Experiences can be adapted so that children participate with different levels of confidence.
At home, keep it simple.
A few relaxed minutes of shared attention are often more useful than a long task. Choose an activity your child enjoys and stop before it becomes a struggle.
- Talk about what you notice on a short walk.
- Invite your child to match socks or sort safe household objects.
- Retell a favourite story using toys rather than memorised lines.
These examples illustrate the planned learning approach, not fixed milestones or promises of a particular outcome.
