SIX CONNECTED AREAS

A balanced view of early learning.

Communication, language and literacy

Conversation, listening, stories and meaningful early marks can help children express ideas and enjoy language.

Creative expression

Making, music, movement and imaginative play offer different ways to explore and communicate an idea.

Mathematics

Practical experiences with quantity, shape, pattern and comparison help children build understanding.

Personal, social and emotional development

Relationships, expressing feelings and growing independence support participation in a learning community.

Physical development

Movement, coordination and everyday self-care develop through suitable activity and repeated opportunities.

Understanding the world

Noticing people, materials, living things and everyday change can turn curiosity into enquiry.

TRICEF’S PLANNING APPROACH

Connected experiences, considered support.

Planning around meaning

A story, a shared construction or a question about nature can offer opportunities across more than one learning area. The planning intention is to connect skills with experiences children can understand.

Watching what changes

Observation can help adults decide when to offer a new challenge, revisit an experience or change the support. Read progress and reporting for examples.

Status and age boundaries

Cambridge publishes Early Years for ages 3–6. TRICEF’s Playgroup for ages 2–3 is a separate proposed provision. Registration, resource access, staff preparation and permitted branding must be confirmed before any formal programme claim is made.
